School Update (3/24/2020)

We have a couple updates and reminders for you during this time. First of all, just a reminder that we have the packet pick up tomorrow, Wednesday, March 25th. K-2 is from 2:00pm-3;00pm, 3-5 is from 3:15pm-4:15pm, and 6-8 is from 4:30pm-5:30pm. There is an alternate time available from 5:30pm-6:30pm for are parents who absolutely cannot make the above mentioned time. As we are trying to limit exposure please only have 1 parent and 1 child at the most come to the school. Also, if you have students in multiple grades please just come at one time instead of multiple times.

Next, don't forget that we have lunches for our free and reduced students every day! Pick up time is from 11:30 am till 12:30 pm in the bus parking lot. If you are unable to make it to the school for this, please give us a call and let us know so that we can help you out!

Lastly, the school closure has been extended to April 10th per Governor Bullock's announcement.

School Update (3/19/2020)

In order to best meet our community needs, we have developed a survey for you to fill out regarding online access and learning. Please visit: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/6FFTLGM to complete this survey. This will allow us to plan for further educational instruction. We have developed a tool for questions and answers. If you have questions for any staff member or administration, please fill out the survey. The appropriate staff member will then respond to you as quickly as they can. Please visit: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/5QGMCB9

The CDC also has great resources of how you can talk with your child(ren) about COVID-19. Please visit these recommendations at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/community/schools-childcare/talking-with-children.html.

Meal Information, Medication Pick-up (3/16/2020)

Canyon Creek Families,

Per Governor Bullock we as a district will continue to provide meals to our free and reduced families. We ask that you please call the office at 406-656-4471 and leave the names of your students who need meals by 10 am each day. This will give us a more accurate idea of the number of breakfast and lunches to prepare. Pick up of these meals will be from 11:30-12:30 each day at the bus parking lot parallel to our playground. Our meals will include a hot lunch to go and a grab and go breakfast for the morning. This will go into effect starting Tuesday, March 17th.

Also, for those students who have medication on-site that you need during the shutdown, please stop at the school during our meal pick up time of 11:30-12:30. If you need to schedule a different time please call the school and we will set up a time to meet you.

Thank you for your patience and understanding on this matter. We as a community will get through this together.

Covid-19 School Closure Announcement (3/15/2020)

Attention Canyon Creek Parents:

As you are aware Governor Bullock has closed all schools in the state of Montana from Monday, March 16th-Friday March 27th. Please do not send your students to school. We understand this may be a hardship for some you, but due to COVID-19 and the risks, this has to be done. We ask that you limit students’ social exposure to prevent the spread of the virus. At this time we are not providing online learning opportunities but will be working on some academic options during this two-week timeframe the governor has given us. If you are a family that is apart of our Give H.O.P.E. backpack program, we will be reaching out to you in the next 24 hours. We will continue to update you as more information becomes available.

Parent Letter March 23rd

Dear Parents/Guardians of Canyon Creek School

I hope this letter finds you safe and healthy.  Covid 19 has created some huge challenges for all of us and educating students is one of the issues.  For the past week, Canyon Creek teachers have been working hard to provide your students with a learning plan that will continue to educate all students in the district to the best of our abilities.  Canyon Creek is committed to successfully navigating these challenges and working with all of you to overcome any obstacles that may reduce the opportunities to education.

The district is finalizing a long-term plan during the Covid 19 Pandemic.  Currently, our teaching staff has developed a hybrid system of learning online and the use of a packet system that can be picked up and returned to the school.   We recognize that not all students have access to the internet and technology devices for school. We will do our best to work around these challenges in the next few weeks.  Please be patient with our teaching staff as we navigate these new waters. It is important to understand that our teaching staff all have different levels of comfort when it comes to technology implementation.

This coming Wednesday,March 25th we are scheduling pickup times for instructional materials at the front office of the school.  We will be handing out materials but also asking some questions about technology and internet availability.  We are trying to get the best handle on our students' access. If you absolutely cannot make these times please call the front office.  We will be checking off student names as materials are picked up to keep track of student engagement. Keep in mind it is required by law that students attend to the schoolwork.  Students will be asked to turn in some work back to the staff in the near future. You will also find teacher info in each packet.

K-2 2:00-3:00

3-5 3:15-4:15

6-8 4:30-5:30

ALT      5:30-6:30

Note:  the Alt time is only for people that absolutely cannot pick up during the other scheduled times.  As you may notice this schedule spaces out our exposure the best we can. Please have one parent and student come to the building.  The fewer people the better. During this time, students will also be able to get anything out of a locker and supplies if needed.

The teacher and district will continue to communicate and collaborate with all of you via email and our website in the future.  Teachers will have a chalkboard link on the website with daily updates in regards to instruction. The district will also be communicating in this manner.  You will be able to directly email the staff and ask questions from our website. This will be available to you later this week.

We recognize that this is a stressful time for all of us, jobs are at risk, the financial market is vulnerable, and our students and families need to adjust to a different way of life.  Most importantly, we want to emphasize the importance of staying healthy and be aware of avoiding large areas of people. This is difficult for all of us but important for the well being of our community.  We understand and want all of you to know that Canyon Creek District is thinking about all of you. Please email Mr. Lipp at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if you have any questions or Mrs. Morales This email address is being protected from spambots.
